Time to consider some UDFA options. Here are some of the best on the market.
We’ve made it through three days of draft picks, and now we move on to the craziest part of the week, undrafted free agency. Undrafted players will commit to multiple teams, teams will change their minds about a player, and simply put, there will be all sorts of other craziness for the next 24 or 48 hours. Things settle down heading into next week, but it will be the wild west for the time being.
The San Francisco 49ers have 82 players on their roster following the draft. That leaves them eight spots for UDFAs to fill out the 90-man roster. Odds are good they end up signing more than eight players and releasing players from their current roster. There will be plenty of turnover in the next week or two.
The team 49ers drafted a defensive end, two wide receivers, a punter, a linebacker, and offensive tackle, and a tight end.
You can follow our rumor track here. In the meantime, here are some of the best players still out there. Who are you looking out for? SB Nation’s Dan Kadar has his best available:
75. Gerald Willis, DT, Miami
91. Preston Williams, WR, Colorado State
98. Te’Von Coney, LB, Notre Dame
100. Jamal Davis, Edge, Akron
103. Saivion Smith, CB, Alabama
107. Malik Gant, S, Marshall
113. Daniel Wise, DT, Kansas
120. David Sills, WR, West Virginia
125. Evan Worthington, S, Colorado
126. DaMarkus Lodge, WR, Ole Miss
That’s from his big board. I would add CB Nik Needham from UTEP. Also, Emanuel Hall. Those would be my two. Here’s Mel Kiper’s best available from his big board:
76. Gerald WIllis III, DT, Miami
104. Tyree Jackson, QB, Buffalo
126. Beau Benzschawel, G, Wisconsin
132. Emanuel Hall, WR, Missouri
134. Penny Hart, WR, Georgia St.
135. Mark Fields, CB, Clemson
141. Te’von Coney
