On Sunday morning, rumors began to swirl on social media about a potential trade request coming from a key member of the San Francisco 49ers. According to different social media accounts, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk requested a trade from the 49ers.

However, Aiyuk’s agent, Ryan Williams, quickly chimed in on Twitter to refute reports of a trade request. Williams quote tweeted one of the accounts reporting a trade request with a simple message —  “You need better sources.”

With Aiyuk due for a new contract, his name has been at the center of multiple rumors and chatter throughout the offseason. Fueling the buzz about a potential trade, Aiyuk has had some cryptic messages since the 49ers loss in the Super Bowl, along with unfollowing the 49ers on Instagram.

Aiyuk is entering the fifth-year option on his rookie deal after being selected in the first round out of Arizona State in the 2020 NFL draft. In four seasons with the Niners, Aiyuk has notched 269 catches for 2931 yards and 25 touchdowns.

The former Sun Devil is coming off a career-high in yards with 1342 yards. Aiyuk added seven touchdowns during the 49ers run to the Super Bowl.
