The 49ers’ five-game winning streak to close out the season, compliments of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, shot the team down the draft order. San Francisco will pick ninth or 10th pending the results of a coin flip with the Oakland Raiders, who finished with an identical record and strength of schedule. General manager John Lynch will have some $110-million in cap space and nine selections in the NFL draft to continue rebuilding the roster with coach Kyle Shanahan.

Our friends at Draft Wire this week published a full seven-round mock draft predicting 224 picks in April. Let’s take a quick look at the 49ers’ nine selections and break down how the choices would fit.

Round 1 – Pick 9: Josh Jackson, CB, Iowa

NCAA Football: Iowa at Iowa State

Jackson, at 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, has ideal size for the 49ers’ Cover-3 scheme. He’s an aggressive defender that plays with physicality at the line of scrimmage and has length down the field to make plays. Jackson had a mind-blowing Junior season at Iowa, totaling 48 tackles and eight interceptions to lead the FBS – with two returned for touchdowns.

Round 2 – Pick 59: Dorance Armstrong Jr., EDGE, Kansas

Armstrong (6-4, 246) put himself on the map with a standout junior season of 56 tackles, 20 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. Although his production dipped in 2017, Armstrong put an impressive display of versatility and athleticism that makes him a fit for the 49ers’ “Leo” pass-rusher role.
