We’ve got a full rundown of the 49ers 2019 NFL Draft class. Undrafted free agency is officially underway, so the 49ers rookie class will grow, but here are this year’s draft picks.
The 2019 NFL Draft is officially complete, with the 49ers making eight selections this past weekend. San Francisco made two trades, adding two picks in the process, while giving up linebacker Dekoda Watson to the Broncos in the process.
General Manager John Lynch and Co. started out with a couple of picks that most analysts had mocked for the 49ers in edge rusher Nick Bosa and wide receiver Deebo Samuel.
Bosa, along with the likes of Dee Ford, DeForest Buckner and Arik Armstead will begin to scare opposing offensive lines. On the flip side, Samuel’s route running and quickness will add another weapon at Kyle Shanahan’s disposal. His Senior Bowl performance likely sealed the deal for the 49ers’ brain trust.
San Francisco surprised fans with their next two picks, adding another playmaker for Shanahan in Jalen Hurd, while drafting a fourth-round punter from Utah in Mitch Wishnowksy.
Hurd’s pro comparison is probably wideout Cordarrelle Patterson, an undersized tight end, that can be a Swiss-army knife for an offense. Wishnowsky has been compared to Seahawks’ standout punter, Michael Dickson and with Bradley Pinion leaving in free agency, this pick fills a void.
49ers finished off Day 3 by adding more depth in edge rusher Dre Greenlaw, tight end Kaden Smith and tackle Justin Skule. Smith is probably the most interesting of the bunch, likely making tight end Garrett Celek’s chance of making the roster tough.
