Former 49ers cornerback Tramaine Brock could face up to five years in prison after being charged Tuesday with felony domestic violence and misdemeanor child endangerment from an April incident that led to the 49ers dismissing him.

Brock, who started for the 49ers the last two seasons, is expected to plead not guilty to the charges.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office accused Brock, 28, of punching his 31-year-old girlfriend in the face and attempting to strangle her on different occasions, including once as she was holding their 1-year-old child.

The April 6 incident was sparked, according to the district attorney’s office, by a disagreement over what to watch on television. Brock allegedly punched the woman and, per the district attorney, “attempted to strangle her to the point that she later vomited.”

When police arrived, they found visible marks on the woman’s neck, which led to Brock’s arrest.
