It seems like we’re talking about former San Francisco 49ers safety Donte Whitner more than a few of the current San Francisco 49ers players. Whitner once again called out another 49ers defensive back, this time cornerback Deommodore Lenoir, and issued a challenge: cover Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jauan Jennings.
“Deommodore Lenoir talked a lot of sht to me,” Whitner said on his Grit Code Podcast. “After I analyzed him properly and showed that he was hiding on the play vs Seattle last year.”
Whitner is referencing a January 9 podcast where he criticized Lenoir for covering Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Shortly after the podcast dropped, Lenoir responded via his Instagram, and he and Whitner went at it.
“All the sht you talked to me,” Whitner continued. “I want to see you go four quarters versus the roughhouse.”
The “roughhouse” Whitner is referring to is Jennings, who signed with the Minnesota Vikings. The 49ers face the Vikings in Week 11.
“I want to see if all that sht you were talking to me,” Whitner said. “If you’re really ‘bout that action.”
Jauan Jennings signed with the Minnesota Vikings on May 8 for an $8 million deal. The date is important because it was later in free agency than anyone may have anticipated. It was also much less than the $22 million market valuation Jennings had at the beginning of the year.
Whitner has been critical of some of the 49ers’ players and moves in the offseason. The most notable being an exchange between him and Ji’Ayir Brown a little over a week ago. Brown called Whitner directly after some criticism was directed at him (Brown). Whitner discussed the conversation on his podcast, ending with declaring Brown “delusional.”
Now Jennings will face his former team, and Whitner is eyeing the matchup between Lenoir and Jennings that night:
“I’m looking forward to Jauan Jennings giving that 49ers secondary the ride of their life.
