Per Herbie Teope, Former Saints DT Tyeler Davison is scheduled for a free-agent visit Friday with the San Francisco 49ers according to a source. Davison, who started 48 games over past four seasons in New Orleans, visited the Atlanta Falcons earlier this week. The 26-year old and former fifth-round draft pick out of Fresno State played 493 snaps for the Saints last year.

His PFF grade was a 75 for his run defense and 54 for his pass rush. The average is 70. Davison finished the season with 16 tackles and 11 total pressures, including two sacks. He predominantly played the “1-technique” for the Saints. So, over the outside shoulder of the center. The Saints had the third best run defense per DVOA, though there’s no telling how much Davison had to do with that. Here’s a play on him:

Judging by what he was asked to do the last three games for the 49ers and how many snaps he played, Davison would compete with D.J. Jones for snaps. They play the same position and the same amount of snaps.
