The next step in the pre-draft process is underway.

The NFL Combine is officially a wrap, and it’s time to move on to the next step in the pre-draft process. Starting Tuesday, March 5th, the San Francisco 49ers scouts, personnel executives, and coaches will be criss-crossing the country attending numerous college Pro Days. They begin with at Purdue and Miami (Ohio), and wrap up on April 4th at Stanford and Eastern Washington.

Big name players might have their own private pro day, but these school Pro Days provide under-the-radar players one last chance to make some noise and draw attention to their cause. The 49ers might not attend every single Pro Day, but they’ll likely come pretty close.

The Pro Days will be followed by private workouts and the 30 visits a team is allowed to conduct in Santa Clara. The team’s big board is closer to being settled, but there is still some jiggering left to do. The 49ers don’t know what the Arizona Cardinals will do with the No. 1 overall pick, but they are likely closing in on what they’d like to do with the No. 2 pick — barring a trade down.
