The injury bug has plagued the San Francisco 49ers for countless years. Early on in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks, All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner went down and missed a few plays. After going to the blue medical tent, Warner came back to start the second quarter.
All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams went down on the field as well. He didn’t miss a snap, but it was a “hold your breath” kind of moment.
All-Pro tight end George Kittle wasn’t as fortunate as his other teammates. Kittle missed a series after he went into the blue medical tent, but nobody knew why. Jake Tonges was on the field, which would make sense if he were lined up next to Kittle.
According to the broadcast, Kittle suffered a hamstring injury and was immediately ruled out of returning. That is never a good sign when a player is ruled out within minutes. We’ll have updates when they are available, but the fact that Kittle was ruled out instantaneously suggests the 49ers could be without their star tight end for more than just one game.
It makes you wonder how a team so talented continues to suffer injuries to its top players.
