And Tyreek Hill, to an extent.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, with one game remaining in Week 15, we have a new leader atop the MVP odds:

1) Brock Purdy -190

2) Dak Prescott +450

3) Lamar Jackson +500

4) Jalen Hurts +1000

5) Christian McCaffrey +1200

-190 implies that Purdy has a 65.5 percent chance of winning. Prescott’s odds give him an 18.1 percent chance of winning. As we know, these odds change weekly based on results. Prescott was the favorite last week before putting up a stinker in Buffalo.

Lamar may be in the best position to win it. He can gain significant ground with a big game on the road against the Niners next week. Then, Baltimore finishes against two lackluster defenses in Miami and Pittsburgh.

Purdy is fresh off a four touchdown performance where he once again created something out of nothing and turned it into a long touchdown pass. We have a season’s worth of evidence of Brock making those types of plays.

His teammate, George Kittle, believes another member of the 49ers, Christian McCaffrey, should be getting more consideration for the league MVP.

After Sunday’s game, Kittle was asked how you differentiate between Purdy and McCaffrey. Here’s Kittle’s answer:

“You know what, I’m glad you said something about that. You know, I’ve been wanting to stand on a soapbox about this for awhile. Quarterbacks are definitely the most important piece on the team. Everyone is talking about Purdy. Everyone is talking about Dak in that MVP race.

But when you look at guys like, and Brock’s doing a good job. He deserves all of the love that he’s getting. But when you got a guy like Christian McCaffrey who is doing things for us in the run game and the pass game. And he’s absolutely elite every Sunday, scoring touchdowns. Three today. Seven against the Cardinals this year. It’s pretty impressive.

The things him and Tyreek [Hill] are doing this year constantly. I don’t know how you don’t have them involved in the MVP conversation. I’m all for quarterbacks winning the awards. It’s an important position. The things that they consistently do week in and week out, you’ve got to have Christian in there.

He’s unguardable, and he’s the most unique position in football.”

McCaffrey led the 49ers in rushing and receiving on Sunday. He finished with 115 yards rushing and a touchdown, and had five receptions for 72 yards and two touchdowns.

On the year, McCaffrey has 324 more rushing yards than Buffalo Bills running back James Cook, who is in second place. McCaffrey has 509 receiving yards on the season. Unique is the perfect description for what McCaffrey is doing this season and what he means to the 49ers.
