Draft day is just a day away and the 49ers are waiting for the Arizona Cardinals to make their selection. For a couple of months, that pick was supposed to be QB Kyler Murray. In the last couple of weeks, there have been reports that the pick may be changing. If Kyler is selected, the 49ers would have their option of Nick Bosa or Quinnen Williams. But if the Cardinals select Nick Bosa, the 49ers could take Quinnen to shore up their defense or trade down to a team that is in need of moving up to select Kyler Murray.
Unless the 49ers are blown away by a trade, they will select either of Nick Bosa or Quinnen Williams at #2. Both should immediately elevate the defense. Bosa and Dee Ford would form a formidable passing rushing duo. Quinnen and DeForest would give offensive linemen headaches on how to block them. Either of those guys would be a win for the 49ers.
The kicking situation for the 49ers became a little more complicated with the news that Robbie Gould has demanded a trade. The team tagged Gould earlier in the offseason, but he wants to go back to Chicago to be with his family. Reports say that the earliest he would show up with the team would be on September 8th for the 1st regular season game. He will be a holdout unless he changes his mind. The 49ers will need to look into their options if they decide they do not want to go through this situation.
