A daily compilation of 49ers news from around the net. Sunday, March 10th, 2019 edition.

Good morning folks, and a happy Sunday to you. Yesterday, the Football Gods decided it best that we should swap out one high profile rumor for another. The Antonio Brown saga has finally reached a conclusion, for better or worse. He’s been traded to the Oakland Raiders for a third and fifth, a far cry from the first and change originally sought. In addition, the Raiders will reportedly jack up his salary by several million annually – the early numbers claim his three year contract to max out near 50 million.

In exchange, 49ers fans now have the opportunity to get bent out of shape over the prospect of trading for Kansas City Chiefs edge rusher Dee Ford. There is no doubt that he’s a very productive player who would add a much needed dimension to the 49ers’ under-performing defense. However, acquiring Ford would require valuable draft capital, and may complicate the generally-accepted assumption that the team will target a top edge rusher with their #2 overall pick.

The legal tampering period of free agency begins tomorrow, leading up to the first day of the league year on March 13th. At that point, free agency will open completely. If the 49ers plan to make a big splash in the pre-draft edge rusher market, there’s reason to believe it would happen this week.
