Do the right thing. Something that seems so simple yet is such a tough concept for many to grasp. Over the weekend, two ex-49ers were on the opposite ends of this. Former 49ers assistant Keanon Lowe tackled a gunman, which prevented a school shooting on Friday. Lowe was a former football player at the University of Oregon. He is currently a football coach and security guard at Parkrose High School in Portland, Oregon.

Lowe is a real-life hero. He sacrificed his life for someone else. Lowe didn’t do it for publicity. He did it because it was the right thing to do. I love reading stuff like this. It’s too bad it took him being a former San Francisco 49ers coach to become more significant news.

Long-time 49er Jeremy Newberry had something awful happen to him, unfortunately. He played for the team from 1998-2006.

Newberry says vandals have destroyed nearly half of the 4,000 cherry trees recently planted at his Northern California orchard. Newberry tells the San Francisco Chronicle that a worker at his Newberry Cherry Farm arrived May 15 to find 2,000 new trees plucked from their roots and snapped.

A man trying to make an honest living has that happen to him.

Newberry says he can’t imagine the effort it must have taken to cause such widespread damage. He says he’s heartbroken, but will replace the $30,000 worth of destroyed trees. And he plans to set up surveillance cameras.

I hope he’s able to recoup the majority if not all of the damage. If anyone sees something come across the internet how we can help out Newberry, please share!
