OTAs are back and it is time to completely overreact to everything that happens. As members of Niners Nation, let’s dive into some of the happenings so we can start choosing team pessimism or optimism.

The Good: Tevin Coleman went 70 yards on his first carry for a touchdown. It was an outside zone run to the right. He turned upfield and was gone. Immediate overblown reaction: We will have the best rush offense in the NFL.

The Bad: Dante Pettis caught only 1 of 4 passes with two drops. We have been talking on this site about whether Dante is a future #1 WR. It may be way too early, in a meaningless practice, but overreaction is expected. Immediate overblown reaction: We don’t have a top level WR.

The Ugly: Where there was good there must have been ugly. Tevin Coleman’s 70-yard gallop to the end zone was majorly aided by Dee Ford’s inability to set the edge. We know what Dee brings in the passing game. We need him to help improve our run defense as well. Immediate overblown reaction: Our rush defense will be bottom third this year.

The Perfect: Matt Maiocco reported that Mitch Wishnowsky was 6-for-6 on 50+ yard punts landing inside the 10-yard line. Clocked hang time was 4.8 seconds. Immediate overblown reaction: Nothing….. The fact is MWIOF!

One last thought: Are the 49ers doing the right thing by having Tarvarius Moore practice at safety? I know many people on this site have suggested this as a possible move for this year. However, isn’t this exactly what we complain about with our coaching staff with respect to our other players? Have we not tried this along the line with Thomas, and even in the secondary with Ward? Let me know what you think.
