Jed York is finally learning. Over the last few days, the San Francisco 49ers owner has been chatting with the media during the NFL owners meetings and has been talking about how Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch work together.

Notice he’s not involved. The talk has been on what everyone else is doing. To put things another way, York is staying out of the way and letting the football people run the business.

Every business owner makes mistakes, the question is do they learn from them? Right now, York has allowed patience and optimism to his head coach and general manager, which is part of the reason he gave them six-year contracts and let them clean up the mess Trent Baalke left.

Will it stay this way? I don’t know. We’ll see. Right now it seems like York is learning from his mistakes. If the 49ers can win a Super Bowl under Shanahan/Lynch, they will have some pedigree, because he took what was one of the worst rosters and made it into champions with their own two hands.
