The 49ers are entering a crucial offseason that goes beyond the seismic change they’ll undergo at quarterback. Surrounding presumed starting QB Trey Lance will be imperative to the team hitting the ground running and competing right away in the post-Jimmy Garoppolo era.
While cap space shouldn’t be a significant problem even with extensions coming due for WR Deebo Samuel and DE Nick Bosa, the 49ers will have to operate shrewdly in free agency with their 2022 first-round pick shipped to Miami in the trade up for Lance before last year’s draft.
