They agree on Bosa in the first, but both go different positions in the second

The NFL Draft is 20 days away. It’ll be here just like that.

The San Francisco 49ers are going to draft a pass-rusher in the first round. If they stay put, that player is probably Nick Bosa out of Ohio State. If they trade back, they’ll have more options. The intrigue starts in the second round.

On Wednesday morning, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay released a dueling two-round Mock Draft(Insider content). The two agreed on who the 49ers should take at number two overall.

Round 1

2nd overall

Kiper- Nick Bosa (Edge rusher, Ohio State)

The best pass-rusher in this class is a near lock to go in the first two picks. Could a team trade up to No. 2 to try to get him?

McShay-Nick Bosa (Edge rusher, Ohio State)

If Bosa is still in fact available, expect the Niners to either jump on the elite edge rusher or trade down, a possible scenario now that Dee Ford is in town.

Not sure why Ford would prevent the team from selecting Bosa and really making that front four legit. The Ford signing absolutely gave the Niners flexibility to at least entertain offers to move down. Both analysts mentioning a trade has to make you wonder what they are hearing.

Round 2

36th overall

Kiper- A.J. Brown (WR, Ole Miss)

We already know San Francisco was in the Antonio Brown/Odell Beckham Jr.trade sweepstakes. A.J. Brown has the potential to be a No. 1 receiver.

McShay- Taylor Rapp (Safety, Washington)

Receiver is certainly something to watch, but man, the Niners could use Rapp’s coverage instincts in a weak safety unit.

To me, Brown would be very effective with the 49ers, but I don’t see the potential to be the “go-to guy.” He will need to get used to playing on the perimeter first.

Rapp is such a good football player. He also ran a 4.74 40-yard dash. That has to worry you a little, no matter how impressive his instincts are.

In Kiper’s scenario, the only other receivers that were drafted were D.K. Metcalf, Marquise Brown, and Terry McLaurin. For McShay’s, the only safety that was drafted up until that point was Johnathan Abram.

What do you think about these picks?
