The NFL’s salary cap for 2019 is officially set according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The $188.2 million figure falls just shy of the projected $190 million. It’s an $11 million increase from last season’s cap number.

The 49ers are still flush with cap space even with the official number coming short of the projection. Over the Cap has San Francisco with about $67.5 million in space.

Free agency is going to be a key aspect of the 49ers’ roster construction this offseason. This year’s class of free agents comes with several high-end players at San Francisco’s biggest positions of need. It would be atypical of the 49ers to make a huge splash in the open market, but their roster is close enough to contention that a few key free agents could be the difference in whether they make the playoffs this year.
