There’s an interesting dynamic with the 49ers’ 2024 NFL draft class. They didn’t hit any home runs according to the general draft commentariat, but it was still a quality class that should yield a handful of starters in the next season or two. The result led to a pretty common overall draft grade in the ‘B’ range, but San Francisco still landed with a sub-3.00 draft GPA in an accumulation of draft grades put together by Rene Bugner.

It appears based on perusing various grades that the problems arise in the first two rounds for the 49ers. Graders who gave the 49ers poor grades generally hated the selection of wide receiver Ricky Pearsall at No. 31 overall, and the selection of cornerback Renardo Green at No. 64 overall. Both were considered “reaches” by the general NFL draft analyst consensus. The first two rounds are also where grades are most heavily weighted. Alas, a generally solid 49ers class wound up with a GPA below a ‘B’ average.
