The 49ers’ No. 2 pick suffered a minor injury during OTAs.

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Thursday that defensive end Nick Bosa suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain and will not practice the next few weeks while receiving treatment.

Grade 1 is the lowest-degree of hamstring strain, resulting in tightness but maintaining the ability to walk normally, per NBC Sports’ Matt Maiocco.

The 49ers’ No. 2 pick injured his hamstring during 1-on-1 pass rush drills with the offensive line during Tuesday’s OTA practice. Bosa clutched his leg after the rep, moved off the field and watched the remainder of practice from the sidelines.

Injury history was Bosa’s only red flag coming out of Ohio State. He suffered a torn ACL as a senior, ending his high school career. His time with the Buckeyes ended in similar fashion, with a core injury in 2018 ending his season after three games. Despite the concerns, Bosa’s skills as a pass rusher kept him at the top of draft boards and widely regarded as the nation’s top prospect.

The 49ers will likely sideline Bosa until training camp, which doesn’t begin until late July. Outside of the NFL Combine, OTAs were Bosa’s first significant football action since suffering his injury in September of last year.
