Now, now, Mr. Bosa, we don’t want to say the wrong thing.

There are plenty of people who would be happy with the Cardinals taking Kyler Murray with the first pick. Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa is not one of those people.

The projected best player overall in the draft didn’t show anything less at the 2019 NFL Combine over the weekend and made his case for going to the Arizona Cardinals. Both with solid numbers and in interviews.

On Saturday morning, Bosa said the pick and the opportunity of going No. 1 would be a dream come true and then later that same day went into a warning of sorts to the Cardinals. During his media availability, he said it would be a “big mistake” to pass him (via NFL.com’s Dan Parr):

“I wouldn’t say anything about Kyler,” Bosa said. “I would just say that I’m somebody who loves the game more than anybody. I’m going to come in and I’m going to work everyday, every practice trying to find new things to better myself. If you do draft me, then you have somebody’s who’s going to improve throughout my entire career.”

Bosa did point out he has a connection to the Cardinals — linebackers coach Bill Davis coached the position at Ohio State for the past two seasons.

”That would just mean so much to me to be thought of as the best player in the draft,” he said.”

Now remember, this isn’t Bosa saying he doesn’t want to go to the San Francisco 49ers. In February, Bosa said that he’d be lucky to be taken by the 49ers at No. 2. On Saturday, he said he had a meeting with the 49ers and likes the chance to join a defensive line that already has a strong interior.

At the end of the day, Bosa probably doesn’t want to say anything negative about potential suitors. There will probably be a few more humble and gracious comments towards other suitors, it might be hard to figure out what is genuine.

Then again, Arizona taking Murray and ticking Bosa off may light an even larger fire under him. This could be beneficial to the 49ers.
