If the Cardinals go Kyler Murray at No. 1, the 49ers would luck out in a huge way.

The San Francisco 49ers are set to meet with Ohio Stat edge rusher Nick Bosa Saturday night at the 2019 NFL Combine. Bosa confirmed that news in his Saturday press availability, and also said he has meetings with the top eight teams in the 2019 NFL Draft. Bosa met with 49ers general manager John Lynch back in December in a practice leading up to the Rose Bowl.

Bosa likes what the 49ers have to offer along their defensive line. He talked about the quality interior options they have, and “[t]hey just need help on the edge is what they told me.”

We’ve got two months remaining until the 2019 NFL Draft, and really we’re simply waiting to see if the Arizona Cardinals are going to select quarterback Kyler Murray with the No. 1 overall pick. Defensive tackle Alabama Quinnen Williams is a possibility, and we could see a wild card, but really it feels like we’re left waiting to see if they pick Murray.

Bosa is what he is. He’s an incredibly talented pass rusher who by all accounts is fully recovered from his core muscle injury. He said the injury is one that once it’s healed it’s fixed for good, according to Matt Barrows. If that’s cleared up, the only reason he’s not going No. 1 is because of Murray. If he is there at No. 2, the 49ers will wait and see what kind of trade offers they get, and then if nothing materializes, run their card up and make the pick.

Bosa has his areas of improvement (some suggest tight hips, less fluid than his brother, occasional leverage issues), but he seems to check most of the boxes for what the 49ers need to elevate their defense. If he is there at No. 2, the 49ers could stumble into one heck of a pick-up.
