Nick Bosa is a glaring omission. In fairness, you have to remove somebody, and these other four edge rushers were incredible in their own right.
If Mooney Ward catches a couple more of the passes that hit him in the hands this season, he’s on the first team.
Aiyuk is a victim of a lack of volume.
Patrick Queen is not a better linebacker, nor did he have a better season than Dre Greenlaw. The same is true for Bobby Wagner. That feels more like name recognition than anything.
Outside of the 49ers, Patrick Surtain should be on this list. Jessie Bates should be on the first team. So should Taron Johnson.
Here’s a look at the voting:
Brock Purdy 22
Deebo Samuel 3
Nick Bosa 5
Javon Hargrave 1
Dre Greenlaw 7
Tashaun Gipson 1
Mitch Wishnowsky 1
George Odum 4
There are 50 total votes per position. Purdy was third among quarterbacks. He received two votes for the first-team.
