If Bosa is a bust fans are going to riot.

It’s going to be a nuclear day if the San Francisco 49ers are fortunate enough to land Nick Bosa and then he turns out into a bust. Or even a disappointment. That would be the absolute last thing anybody would want, and it’s something that has been on my mind a lot.

Nevertheless, we have a mock draft that has the coveted pass rusher (well, coveted by some of you anyways) going to the 49ers.

Following along with our NFL Combine back and forth between the Arizona Cardinals, Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray, and the first pick, Sporting News’ Vinnie Iyer put together a mock draft following that narrative with the Cardinals taking Murray. The 49ers are in the fortunate position to take Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa.

Here’s what Iyer said about the Murray pick for the Cardinals:

Murray squashed plenty of questions about his undersized frame by measuring better than expected (5-10, 207 pounds, 9 1/2-inch hands). His dynamic playmaking, backed by smarts and accuracy, has the Cardinals locked on Murray going to work in a Kliff Kingsbury passing offense suited to him, assuming they can move 2018 first-rounder Josh Rosen.

And here’s what was said about the 49ers pick of Bosa:

Bosa would be a no-brainer for the 49ers if he were to fall to them. Pro Bowl tackle DeForest Buckner had a breakout pass-rush season, and fellow first-rounder Solomon Thomas found another gear after he slid inside. Bosa is a sleek edge force (6-4, 266 pounds) with even more upside than that of brother Joey.

Even if Murray is not taken and Josh Rosen remains the quarterback, I still see Quinnen Williams as the pick to the Cardinals. If not him, perhaps Josh Allen. I just don’t see Bosa going to the Cardinals in a BPA scenario. I think with their needs and fit, Bosa just wouldn’t be in their plans. But I’ve been wrong before.
