Make of that what you will.

Each year it seems like the larger prospects put on a crazier and crazier show at the NFL Combine. This year, we saw defensive linemen putting together ridiculous 40-yard dash times.

We can now add defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to that group. He ran a 4.87 40-yard dash, and NFL Network decided to have a little fun with it. They have laid 40-yard dash performances over those of other players (and sometimes Rich Eisen), and they decided to lay Williams’ performance over two quarterbacks he could end up chasing in the NFL. Here is Quinnen Williams running the 40 against San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen.

Generally speaking, defensive tackles are not going to be chasing anybody around in the backfield for 40+ yards (well, maybe Russell Wilson). Williams also had an impressive 10-yard split at 1.67 seconds, which is a plus for his explosiveness.

Of course, if the Cardinals draft Nick Bosa or Kyler Murray, and the 49ers draft Josh Allen or Nick Bosa (or trade down), it seems unlikely we see Williams in the NFC West. The Jets and Raiders hold the third and fourth picks, and both could decide he’s the impact player their defense needs. My guess is he is gone shortly after the 49ers pick if he has not gone in either of the first two picks.
