And..here…we…GO!
Just when you thought the front office wasn’t doing anything, not so fast, 49ers fans. Ian Rapoport reports that the the San Francisco 49ers are in discussions with none other than the Kansas City Chiefs for Dee Ford. Per Albert Breer, the Chiefs are looking for a second round pick.
Yes, star pass rusher Dee Ford. As in 13 sacks Dee Ford. As in seven forced fumbles in 2018 Dee Ford. As in 29 quarterback hits Dee Ford. As in the most pressure among edge rushers according to PFF Dee Ford.
That Dee Ford. This Dee Ford:
Dee Ford in 2018:
–@PFF’s No. 1 pass-rush grade (91.0)
-The most pressure among edge rushers (78)
-13 sacks
-29 quarterback hits https://t.co/0EAxOiaTCi— Rob Lowder (@Rob_Lowder) March 13, 2019
The 49ers missed out on the Odell Beckham Jr. sweepstakes after the Browns gave up a haul. It will be interesting to see what they can get for Ford. The addition of Ford is an instant improvement to this defense and might make the line one to fear with DeForest Buckner running around on there.
The Chiefs are going to a 4-3 defense and were saying they wanted to trade Ford because of the system fit. It’s a bit interesting with that concern he’d go from a 4-3 to a 4-3 (the 49ers system), but it’s Dee Ford. Perhaps defensive coordinator Robert Saleh has something in mind.
And you guys wanted the front office to do something. Here we go everyone!
