With the countdown to the first overall pick heating up on draft day, the trade rumors continue to catch fire. While the noise around potential trades gets louder, the San Francisco 49ers seem to be in the middle of the conversation.

Since the start of the offseason, Brandon Aiyuk’s name has been buzzing as the 26-year-old wide receiver is set to enter the final year of his rookie contract. Yet, Aiyuk reportedly isn’t the only 49ers pass catcher involved in trade chatter.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the 49ers have had conversations with teams about trading either Aiyuk or Deebo Samuel in an effort to move up in the draft. Russini reported that one of the teams the 49ers have had conversations with has a pick in the top 10 of the 2024 draft.

Along with George Kittle, the duo of Aiyuk and Sameul has led the 49ers’ passing attack since their arrival in Santa Clara in 2020. Aiyuk led the 49ers with 75 catches for a career-best 1,342 yards to go along with seven touchdowns.

While Aiyuk is due for a new contract, Samuel signed a three-year extension with the 49ers in 2022. The 28-year-old Pro Bowl wide receiver has two years remaining on his contract with the 49ers.

If the 49ers move one of their dynamic receivers, John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan would have to consider selecting a pass catcher in the 2024 draft. Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. and Washington’s Rome Odunze headline a star-studded wide receiver class in the 2024 draft.

The draft is set to begin at 5 p.m. PT on Thursday in Detroit. The Chicago Bears are set to pick at No. 1 in the 2024 draft.
