The move we’ve all been waiting for!

Per Field Yates, the 49ers made a move this morning. It wasn’t the move we’re all hoping for, but it’s a move nonetheless. The 49ers signed long snapper Kyle Nelson to a four-year extension through 2022.

Long snapper news, baby!

So, extending a guy that will be out for more than a quarter of the season is…interesting to say the least. The team will still need a long snapper for the first six games. The suspension stems from violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. Nelson was previously suspended six games in 2011.

This will have a very minimal impact on the teams cap space. So that’s nice. The 32-year-old (33 in October) has spent the past five seasons in San Francisco, appearing in every single game for the organization. Before that, Nelson appeared in games for the Chargers and Redskins.

What do you think, not a big deal, even with the suspension? Or let’s freak out baby!
