This should be fun

Though the preseason schedule hasn’t been confirmed yet, we now know that the San Francisco 49ers won’t just be practicing against each other all of training camp. NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco reported the team will travel to Denver for one game, with joint practices at the Broncos’ facility.

Denver will have a new head coach and offensive coordinator. 49ers fans will recognize their names. Their new head coach is former 49ers’ defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Their offensive coordinator is former 49ers’ quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello. The connections were too strong for this not to happen.

Holding joint practices is a good way to create a different type of competition. Especially in August. After a couple weeks of hitting the same guys over and over, a fresh face can be healthy. Denver could be in the running to draft a rookie quarterback, so this could be interesting. There will be some interesting matchups, for sure. Von Miller going against Joe Staley will never get old.

We can expect the preseason schedule to be released sometime in April. It’s usually a couple weeks prior to the NFL Draft.
