The 49ers’ chances to draft Ohio State edge rusher Nick Bosa seemed slim when the NFL season ended. Now rumors of the Arizona Cardinals’ interest in Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray has opened the door further on San Francisco’s shot at Bosa. They’ll meet with the standout pass rusher following Ohio State’s Pro Day according to MMQB’s Albert Breer.

This doesn’t come as a surprise given that Bosa is widely considered the best player in the draft, and plays the 49ers’ biggest position of need. They also met with Alabama defensive lineman Quinnen Williams after their Pro Day.

San Francisco will likely meet with a bevy of top defensive prospects in an effort to cast a wide net in their search for talent on that side of the ball. However, if Bosa is available, it’s hard to fathom the 49ers skipping on him.

He won’t work out at his Pro Day after a very strong combine performance. Bosa spent three years with the Buckeyes and missed most of his junior year with a core muscle injury. He racked up 29 tackles for loss and 17.5 sacks in 29 games.
