The 49ers got going early in the trade market on Day 3 of the draft. They made a swap with the Denver Broncos shortly after trading for three picks with the Bengals. This time they moved up into the fifth round, and dealt pass rusher Dekoda Watson.

San Francisco traded their 2019 fifth-round selection to the Lions for guard Laken Tomlinson, and it’s not a surprise they tried to recoup that pick.

They used one of the sixth-round choices they got in a trade with the Bengals at the top of the fourth round to move up.

Watson spent the 2016 season in Denver and was with the 49ers the last two seasons. An injury early last year forced him to start the year on Injured Reserve. He played four games and posted 2.0 sacks.
