They’ve drafted picks without a visit before…

The San Francisco 49ers are looking for that pass rusher to take with the No. 2 pick and are getting meetings together to figure out just who that prospect is. One prospect that won’t be coming in for an interview is Michigan defensive end Rashan Gary. The Athletic’s Matt Barrows reports that Gary won’t be getting an official visit on the grounds that the “team has all the info it needs.”

Before someone thinks that this is a guaranteed ‘no’ on the player, remember, the 49ers didn’t give any workouts to 2018 first rounder Mike McGlinchey. The team wound up taking him ninth. All they had to go on with that pick was a formal NFL Combine interview, two months before the Draft began that year. So not scheduling a formal interview doesn’t mean they aren’t interested.

The 49ers brought in Josh Allen on Wednesday for a workout, and more players are to come, but Gary, who is seen as a top-10 pick, won’t be part of that group. Back when all this mock draft business began in January, the 49ers weren’t so locked onto Nick Bosa. Most of the time, it was Allen with some Quinnen WIlliams sprinkled in for good measure. Gary came in as a dark horse at times and whenever he was mocked to the 49ers at No. 2, most of you weren’t too happy with the pick. It’s not so much that Gary was a bad pick as it was just a reach at No. 2 with what’s available.

If the 49ers managed to get a trade back from the second pick, Gary is definitely in the realm of possibility. If they stay at No. 2 and take hopefully they did their homework.
