Uh-oh…

The San Francisco 49ers got OTAs going on Monday and another player will not be attending. Matt Maiocco reports 49ers kicker Robbie Gould will not be showing up for activities.

As for a reason why, it’s simple: Gould has not yet signed his franchise tender.

Could this lead to Gould sitting out the entire season? It’s a long way to speculate that. Gould hasn’t been too happy on the franchise tag getting sent his way as he intended on testing the free agency waters. His family is in Chicago, and despite the bears acquiring kickers, Gould is better than any of them.

The 49ers also were looking at getting a second option in place just in case Gould refused to sign his franchise tender. They looked at Stephen Gostkowski for a hot minute before he decided to return to the New England Patriots and others will be sure to follow.

Gould is one of the best kickers in the league. While the Pittsburgh Steelers had Le’Veon Bell sitting out his franchise tag in 2018, the 49ers have their kicker sitting out theirs.
