We can expect multiple schedule leaks ahead of the official release scheduled for early Thursday. So far, we know the San Francisco 49ers’ two international games, but that’s it for leaks.
One account to pay attention to on Twitter is @NerdingonNFL. They tweeted that the Niners will travel to New York in early December to take on John Harbaugh’s New York Giants:
On December 6, 2025, it was 41 degrees and overcast, with winds blowing only 5 miles per hour. However, it was only 28 degrees the day before. The following Monday and Tuesday were also only 28 degrees.
Much has been made about how 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy performs in the cold weather. There’s the infamous game in Week 6 of 2023 against the Cleveland Browns, where the Niners lost after their field goal kicker, who is no longer on the team, missed a 41-yarder in the final seconds.
Purdy had a -0.25 EPA per dropback that game. Two of his other subpar performances came in Week 13 of 2024 when it was snowing in Buffalo. The 49ers got the doors blown off them 35-10. Purdy finished that game with a -0.29 EPA per dropback.
The final example was two weeks later against the Rams in 2024. This game was in Santa Clara on December 12. It was rainy and wet for the majority of the first half. The gusts of wind reached 17 miles per hour at kickoff and persisted throughout the game. The wind continued through the fourth quarter at 15 miles per hour, while the rain tapered off in the third quarter. Purdy finished that game with a -0.33 EPA per dropback in a nasty 12-6 game.
It’s one thing if it’s cold. But when the elements like rain and wind start to factor in, life has not been easy for the offense.
It’ll be an early kickoff. A West Coast team traveling across the country is generally a sleepy spot. We’ll see if the games around Week 13 allow the Niners to stay out east, or if they’ll go from Mexico City to California to New York in a three-game stretch.
