Moves are happening around the league!

The Seattle Seahawks agreed to trade their franchise player, defensive end Frank Clark, to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2019 first-round pick, a 2020 second-round pick and an exchange of third-round picks this year, per Adam Schefter. The deal is worth 5-years, $105 million. Whew.

It will be tough for Seattle to replace a talent like Clark, but you can make a pretty strong argument that this works out better for the Seahawks from a money standpoint. They are not financially handicapped, and can maneuver down in the draft and add a couple more players. Two draft picks give the Seahawks a better chance than Clark at this price-tag. The thing for Seattle is, you better hope those picks perform. Because if that first round busts, this could come back to bite you.

Arguments have been made that Kanas City was too prisoner of the moment. Trading a first round pick is huge. Having to pay that first round pick big boy money right away makes it even tougher.

Naturally, a lot of this is circling back to Dee Ford, the San Francisco 49ers edge rusher. Here’s how Ford compared to Clark the last couple of years:

The 49ers acquired Ford with a future second round pick that is not going to be anywhere near as valuable as this years second rounder. They are the real winners here.
