The 49ers added another well-rounded piece to Kyle Shanahan’s offense.
The 49ers drafted two targets for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo on Day 2 in receivers Deebo Samuel and Jalen Hurd. General manager John Lynch added another wrinkle to the offense in the sixth round with the selection of Stanford tight end Kaden Smith. The Stanford product, at 6-foot-5 and 255 pounds, is among the class’ most well-rounded options, with good ability in both the run and pass game. Lets see what Twitter thought about the selection:
Kaden Smith is slow but he’s also a damn good receiver who will catch it in a crowd, take a big lick, and hold on. He’s a nice addition to #49ers

I really like this pick. Not a lot of speed, but a good receiver who made a lot nice catches in traffic. I think he can be a nice compliment to Kittle in two TE sets. https://t.co/Oj18J6hcUP

Everyone that wanted a contested catch guy in the draft finally got him. TE Kaden Smith (6th round, Stanford) has some impressive contested catches, especially up the seam.

Kaden Smith is a possession receiving TE and a good blocker. Solid 6th rd pick imo #49ers

#49ers select TE Kaden Smith from Stanford at No. 176 overall in the #NFLDraft. Was waiting for that Stanford connection to come out.
Niners need tight end depth, too. I’d say this is the team’s best day-three pick without hesitation. #49wz

TE Kaden Smith is a steal in 6th round. Didn’t run well but is a good football player. @49ers
