Typically when someone on the internet puts together a blocking highlight tape it’s from some offensive lineman getting out into the second level and obliterating unsuspecting defensive backs or linebackers. Every now and then an especially good blocking tight end will get a highlight cutup of their blocks online. Then there’s 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who is just a little bit different.
Jennings was a seventh-round pick in the 2020 draft who spent his entire rookie year on the practice squad. He found his way onto the roster in 2021, and while he’s contributed 78 catches, 963 yards, 7 touchdowns and 43 catches for first downs, it’s his blocking that makes him particularly valuable to San Francisco.
