My dream come true, anyways.

A Dream Come True!

With the Number one overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select, Nick Bosa, defense end, from Ohio State University. That is my dream come true! At least the first domino to fall in place for Niners Nation. Leaving Kyler Murray on the big board anywhere after the first pick would be a knife in the heart of all NFC West opponents. The Bay should resound with joy. If the Arizona Cardinals don’t want to select Kyler Murray, I believe they would be flat-out idiots not to trade the selection to someone who does, and believe me, there will be many suitors. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner has captivated football fans from East to West with his brilliance and athleticism with the football in his hands, and many general managers believe his talent and skills will translate to the NFL. Thus, creating a bidding war that could expedite the Niners path to the top of the division.

Giants ringing in

My next domino to fall would be the phone call with the NY Giants, who are looking for a successor to the future Hall of Famer Eli Manning. Love him, hate him, or careless about him, he is leaving some pretty big shoes to fill. Not only on the field, but dealing with a New York market that is as brutal as they come. They will need someone polarizing and electric to hand the throne to once they’ve moved on from Eli. Kyler would check all the boxes and the Giants possess the draft capital the Niners should be looking to accumulate with the #2 pick.

Let’s Make a Deal!

The Giants currently hold pick 6 and 17 in the first round, along with 37 overall in the early second round. They should be able to cut loose of the 6th and 17th overall for the QB of their future. They are in full rebuild mode. The Giants issues are more than one or two players away from contention. With the Niners in possession of the 6th and 17th picks, they can easily satisfy their immediate offensive and defensive needs in the first round.

Draft experts are projecting Rashawn Gary, Montez Sweat, Ed Oliver or Clelin Ferrell to be available at 6th overall, satisfying the Niners’ need for an edge rusher. The offense can gain a huge boost with selecting D.K. Metcalf at 17, opening a completely new element of the Kyle Shanahan offensive scheme. If not Metcalf, there are a few other receiving options available in Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, (Antonio Brown’s cousin) or either of the Iowa tight ends, T.J. Hockenson, or Noah Fant. Kyle Shanahan has the creativity to make an impressive time of possession game plan with the reliable blocking and receiving of tight ends, proven in the pudding of George Kittle’s production. The two tight end sets would pressure defensive coordinators to account for the mismatch of defensive backs’ size and linebackers’ coverage liabilities on both sides of the field, creating an inevitable weakness in a defensive game plan. John Lynch probably wants to stay far away from the Brown family tree, after the dumpster fire that was started by Antonio in Pittsburgh.

Help Me Help You!

Bringing in the offensive artist of Kyle Shanahan, you are expecting the offense to be an asset—not a liability or mere mediocrity. This is the same man that orchestrated the 2016 Atlanta Falcons’ offense that ranked 2nd in yards, 1st in points, and 1st in giveaways. Not to mention the arsenal that was solid enough to highlight the NFL MVP Matt Ryan. This wasn’t accomplished with average talent across the board. There was legit deep ball, intermediate and shallow threats on that roster. With the departure of wide receiver Pierre Garcon, along with his production, Kyle Shanahan and Jimmy Garoppolo both deserve another weapon at their disposal to solidify the Niners’ offense. If Shanahan feels like there’s a receiver that is worth it in the first round, he’s probably right.
