The 49ers draft plans appear pretty clear. They need to draft an edge rusher to pair with the newly-acquired Dee Ford. Their chances to get the draft’s top pass rusher, Nick Bosa, with the No. 2 pick appear to be growing as rumors of the Cardinals’ interest in quarterback Kyler Murray with the No. 1 pick continue to swirl. San Francisco wide receiver Kendrick Bourne chimed in via Twitter on the possibility that Bosa slides one spot to the 49ers.

He would be in favor of the selection:

San Francisco’s defensive line is already full of top-end talent with first-round picks DeForest Buckner, Arik Armstead and Solomon Thomas up front. Buckner was outstanding last season with 12.0 sacks. Thomas has been relatively disappointing, and Armstead’s strength is in stopping the run.

Then there’s Ford, who had 13 sacks last season and figures to be one of San Francisco’s primary pass rushers. All they’re missing is another edge rusher to come off the side opposite Ford.

Bourne’s take that Bosa would be icing on the front seven’s cake is pretty spot on. They’ll have an improved defensive front based just on their moves in free agency. Adding Bosa, which the 49ers would all but certainly do if Arizona passes on him, would give them an additional pass rusher to wreak havoc on opposing offenses.

He may play on the other side of the ball, but Bourne knows a talented defensive lineman when he sees one, and the 49ers would be wise to follow his assessment.
