This offseason isn’t likely the one where we’ll see the 49ers undergo significant changes to their Super Bowl caliber roster. Instead we’ll see a retooling of a couple starting spots and depth to help out in the short and long-term.

Finding that balance between continuing to build out a competitive 53-man roster while also ensuring the team can stay in the mix even through a minor rebuild is extremely tough. It’s why most Super Bowl windows close and teams immediately tumble into the clutches of NFL mediocrity.

For the 49ers this offseason they have some clear priorities at the top of their list, but after that we’ll see depth become a major theme on the list of their offseason needs. Free agency could change the order some, so we’ll revisit the needs list again before the draft.
