Adding a defensive tackle in a week where Javon Hargrave and Arik Armstead are likely questionable again

We will get our first injury report of the week on Thursday afternoon when 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan speaks to the media. Since the 49ers don’t play until Monday, the normal schedule gets pushed back one day.

We’ll have a better idea whether Arik Armstead or Javon Hargrave return to practice. We know the 49ers will be without defensive tackle Kalia Davis, likely for the rest of the regular season as Davis left the locker room in a walking boot and sustained a high-ankle sprain.

Knowing the 49ers need depth at defensive tackle, the team is signing Taylor Stallworth to the practice squad, per his agent Brett Tessler. Stallworth is a sixth-year veteran who recently came off the injured reserve for the Tennessee Titans.

Stallworth appeared in one game this season for the Titans. That just so happened to be against the Baltimore Ravens back in Week 6. The 6’2, 305-pound defensive tackle has played for the Titans, Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts, and New Orleans Saints since being an undrafted free agent back in 2018.

Stallworth is the third defensive tackle on the Niners practice squad behind Spencer Waege and T.Y. McGill.
