The 49ers on Tuesday continued filling gaps on their defensive line depth chart. After adding a pair of defensive ends Monday, San Francisco agreed to a two-year deal worth up to $10 million with Browns defensive tackle Jordan Elliott according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Elliott, 26, was a third-round pick of the Browns in the 2020 draft. He spent his first four seasons in Cleveland, the first two of which he was largely a rotational interior lineman for them. Over the last two seasons though he started 31 of the 34 games he played and posted 4.5 of his 5.0-career sacks.

San Francisco is in dire need of interior line help with Arik Armstead likely leaving once the new league year opens and with Javon Kinlaw already on track to join the New York Jets.

While Elliott has grown into a starter for the Browns, it’s not a certainty he’ll be stepping in as a starter for San Francisco. They should still be aiming to make further additions along the defensive line, and they could wind up moving Elliott into a more rotational role if they can land a high-quality DT to pair with Javon Hargrave.
