We’re going to do mock drafts a couple different ways leading up to the draft.

Let us be clear up front, these aren’t an attempt to guess correctly. They’re just a series of different situations and scenarios to help illustrate different ways the draft could shake out, and to highlight different prospect fits with different teams. We’ll also mess around with different things the 49ers can do specifically.

In our first mock draft we let the Pro Football Focus mock draft simulator work its magic while manually picking for San Francisco. We leaned toward less randomness and more emphasis on positional value. The result is mostly straight forward with a handful of pretty wild selections.

There’ll be a notable absence in the first round: LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, who figures to be a top-three pick, was not selected in the Day 1 projections. It’s nigh impossible to envision a world where that happens considering the amount of teams who would love to have a quarterback with his ceiling on their roster.
