The 49ers on Thursday returned to the first round of the NFL draft for the first time since 2021 when they selected quarterback Trey Lance No. 3 overall. This year they held the 31st overall choice and hung around until that selection to take Florida wide receiver Ricky Pearsall.

In five college seasons Pearsall put up 159 receptions, 2,420 yards and 14 touchdowns in 55 games. He also rushed for 253 yards and five touchdowns on 21 carries and averaged 10.2 yards per punt return on 15 tries during his final two seasons at Florida.

Pearsall wasn’t a popular player in first-round mock drafts and certainly not a player that had been tied to San Francisco. Since we didn’t do any pre-draft deep dives on the former Florida star, we jumped in after Day 1 of the draft to find five things to know about Pearsall.
